...And x'mas is over
...And I'm lapsing into another depression cycle =((
Hate it when things get over one by one. I can't beleive its near new year again >=( And its a new year. At least I don't have to go to school and countdown now, dreading the stat of a new term...rushing holiday homework... There should be some kind of modified school, where people can wear uniform, can go to school, and can attend tutorials in a classroom (lectures should be outlawed), and there will also be teachers, just no Alevels. I mean I enjoy school, but the thought of the looming As spoils the fun totally. Just like spending time in the library with hanyou or anyone else is fun, but then there's always the more important task that is the Alevels and tutorials and homework.
And without this purpose there would be no point in gathering in classrooms, or building a school, or having lunch breaks and recess. There should be a more enjoyable purpose that allows us to gather in school and do such stuff and enjoy one another's company to the fullest without having obstructions. Oh well.
Family gatherings this x'mas as usual. One cousin entering p1..one entering sec1...eeee, they have a looong way ahead of them. Can't believe my primary and secondary education really came to a close just like that...12 years of them. Ah, should have saw it coming at 16, when there was onli 2 out of 18 years left. Still rmb the feeling of being stuck in the stuffy classroom in sec1 and everyone was so toot and ploughing through boring maths and sc and english lessons. Then lessons got more interesting in sec3 and 4, i got progressively better and more interesting teachers too, with some exceptions here and there...Then jc...and ppl got alot more interesting and life got a tad bit more complex. All I can think of now is how much more complex can life get as I carry on moving up
Anyway I'm wondering how different my cousins' education will be now. Primary school for one won't be so typical. Last time all the primary schools had roughly the same structure and classrooms...And lessons were still very 1980s. .e. sit and listen to teacher. And the textbooks are so...uh...=S Same drawings and the characters ah...bala devi and some other wierd ppl. There was the cute squirrel and rabbit in the wierded pets textbook. And in the chinese textbook everyone is xiao ming and xiao guang and xiao li. And everyhing takes place in the void deck or a corridor of a HDB flat.
Secondary education, well not too bad i suppose. Just they have spa now, its more imaginable how it'll be like..
Then I look t my
younger cousins, i.e. those aged 3 or 4. Wow..they have a looong way to go. As much as I loved my childhood and my secondary education I don't think I want to relive it. Its too troublesome. I had a fulfilling time and some regrets and thanks, but no I don't want to relive the whole thing again
So now its time to look ahead. Just alot of uncertainty. Maybe some excitement, chances to try new things...Before I know it I'll probably be celebrating my 5th annivasary reunion, 10th anniversary reunion, then attending Ofe's or Ket's or Huimin's or Ann's wedding dinners. Hopefully I can take part in them... (people get the hint please) And what if everyone ends up more successful then me and I end up feeling inferior and depressed? *glompz* But then maybe it'll be a time of accumulating more friends, entering coporate world, and discovering more excitement in life. 2007...

Suddenly I;m at a loss. I miss beijing, i miss alevels, i miss the time between alvls and prom, and i miss the time between hk and beijing. And the common thread, i suppose, is that during those times, my life falls nicely in place. As in, I have things to do and they settle themselves nicely into my daily schedule. After As, I had meetings and gatherings, and the remaining time i knew exactly what I should do with them, how many essays to do per night, how to plan the important stuff around my outings and tv shows.. Now suddenly, my whole schedule for this week is EMPTY. With so much time on my hands and suddenly, no meetings, i have no idea how to plan my time, where to start and have no mood whatsoever to do stuff tht i need to do. Top that off nicely with insomnia. Suddenly there's nothing that can keep me fulfilled so that I can go to bed properly, and there's nobody to wake me up in the morning or since there's no plan, i don't even know what time to wake up. Arghh...
Kae, maybe plan my day tmr.
5.00 Wake up at 5 and finalized the cd for ann so i can free my dvd recorder some space so i can tape more triumph in the skies for her...
6.00 Print photos to send to laos. Write letter to Laos, and SEND LETTER TO LAOS. BY TMR!!
8.00 Contact mrs yeo an ask her to send refferal to zoo. Send cv to zoo.
10.00 take a look at psc gateway and start thinking about it
11.00 Tell ofe and ket i;m meeting them for lunch and go emet them for lunch!
2.00 Write X'mas cards and watch dvds
4.00 HOpefully ofe can talk. Waiting to talk to her late at night is no good cos chances are she'll fall asleep =P
6.00-7.00 Dinner I think. 7.00 Watch show 5.30 also watch show.
8.00 - 10.30 talk on phone
`10.30 contact random ppl like keting and darren and jonteo and ask them to come online so i can discuss class chalet. (pleas eplease please ppl..can?)
After mass convo dies out...start on cornell apps.
I hope this will make me less dissatisfied. Maybe things ill be different once mei comes back.

Wheeee...HOME!! Back to intense heat and humidity and the land where i can wear t shirt and shorts as and where i like. I swear, beijing's weather is =S Yesterday's temperature highest at 0, lowest at -9. Craziness. And its so dry i don't dare to touch any metal surface with my bare hands cos i'll get painful electric shocks cos of static and mycomplexion just became veryveryvery bad =S But all inall, beijing was fun and the food was good!! =))
Ohoh, if u do go to beijing go to the underground city. its newly opened to the public so publicity is abit poor, like really poor. Taxi drivers don't know the way =S So my parents went and bought silk stuff from them and demanded discounts and gifts, and the woman said, fine, in return help us publisize this. So...here I am.
Basically its a bomb shelter mao built for 5 million people, about 60% of the city. damndamn cool, really the ingenuity of mao. complete with cinemas..hospitals..recreation centres..and its linked to all the houses in beijing, so what they do is just go to some place under their beds. And there are huge doors that prevent water and fire and poison gas from entering at reguler intervals..the hospital in the underground city is directly underneath the hospital above ground..so its easy to transport ppl down..ohoh, compasses dun work in it for fear that enemies may find their way in. The whole place is like a maze..so basically what they do is they have serial numbers on the walls..and this is a code tht onli the chinese people now, telling them the directions and stuff. Oh and its so well linked it brings u to temple of heavens, forbidden city et.c. My dad said let's just travel using this tunnel, no traffic jam, and the guide said, yeah, dun have to pay entrace fee too! Haha, pity they closed the tunnels up, cos of insecurity of what not, but its reallya damn cool place!!

Tired >=( Doing Stanford apps and listening to music now. It’s 1.54 am and sub 0 degrees Celsius in Beijing now. Granted, I had about 4 days to do this last stupid essay but I procrastinated and wiled all my time away =P Ironically, I miss A levels. Maybe it’s cause I’m listening to jinyu yu muyu now. And I miss Ofe. OFE!! Are you happy?? =)) I can’t wait to call you!!
So anyway…Stanford apps? Ah, take a break and blog on MS Word first, when I get online via this 1 RMB per minute browser, I’ll upload this post.
Hmm, Beijing weather is cold and dry. Dry such that I’m itching everywhere on my limbs and thermal underwear doesn’t really help, does it? At least I manage to survive only wearing the thermal pants =P And lips are painful but luckily not breaking =) Or bleeding, for that matter. Cold such that even when the sun is shining ever brightly 3 layers on top is not enough. Ok, maybe its time to put on the thermal shirt. Thankfully its not so cold all the time, sometimes its delightfully cooling and surpasses all expectations and 2 layers suffice =))
And visiting Beijing is like living through a History textbook. Every attraction is interesting, to say the least…like they have a thousand stories to tell.
I can’t believe I’m touching walls and walking on floors that emperors and eunuchs and princes walked on; its like fiction coming alive.
I can’t believe that the 500 year old trees have seen the Ming Dynasty and Qing Dynasty (and all those gong fu fighting and fan qing fu ming efforts if they really existed. I can only imagine people dressed in many cloths flying above the trees), the Boxer Rebellion and all the damage that the baguolianjun brought, the Cultural Revolution e.t.c.
And I keep trying to fit those Ming dynasty and Qing dynasty landscapes into the modern Beijing now, not really believing about a hundred years ago (which really isn’t that long ago) it was probably as we see it in some of the dramas. If 1930s Shanghai wasn’t really far away, and the Cixi era wasn’t too far away from that, and the Qian Long era wasn’t too far away from that (hunazhu gege and fan qing fu ming and all those gongfu stuff) and the Ming dynasty isn’t too far away from that…maybe only a few hundred years…hmm..
On the other hand, it is rather sad
Seeing evidence of some of the crimes of the baguolianjun. Plundering treasure and destroying relics…and the humiliation. Apparently there’s this park where in those times they had a sign that read: Dogs and Chinese not allowed. In China. =S
Seeing the olden houses. I keep trying to imagine them in their splendour and glory i.e. how the period dramas portray them…and I can’t. Their dark dank and rather run down…All I can imagine is how the cultural revolution destroyed them, which by the way is another sad thing =S
Thinking how if my grandparents and great grandparents did not go to S’pore where would I end up. There are young girls younger then me starting businesses in the departmental store. A lot. Or maybe I’ll be living in those dark dank and damp houses. =S And my parents would have had to go thru the cultural revolution and my great grandparents could be officials or whatever. Apparently my great great grandfather was an official, according to my grandmother who never him herself…
Never thought of myself as a Chinese before…as in, as a Chinese Chinese, but then for the first time I felt something about myself as a Chinese as a race, and maybe a little pride at how China is progressing…
Oh and Beijing is dirty. Don’t like people spitting by the roadsides and people smoking wherever they go =S At least the roads are wide though, and the food is good! Or my parents are choosing the right restaurants =)) Next time eating Peking duck, don’t roll it. Dip the skin in sugar and try. Its damn nice.
On another note, Siang ee is back from Laos, and arghhh, I want to go!! To be able to do things that I can’t when I went with the school…tubing..visiting caves…(Ai Xiang Sui now…ahhhh)visiting the homes of the children…And I feel super guilty cos I haven’t posted the letter to the boys in Laos, and one of them told Siang ee he thinks of me when he eats and when he sleeps and his bringing my photo which I sent him wherever he goes. Awwww =( Haha, stroking my ego, but I’m guilty now =SS Arghhh…
tis xmas, plz stay wit me..

Ahhh..alot of things to blog. Let's list agenda.
1. Star awards
2. HK
3. Prom
+++
1. Star Awards
WHEEEEEEE. Ivy lee won =P And that really rou ma dialogue for fa ting qiao jia ren won them best script =P Seriously. Who cares? I'm happy =P
2. HK
Funfunfun.
(a) DIsneyland
The parades are better then the rides. Only space mountain was fun.
Dancers are damn cool!!
Characteres are damn cute!! Timon, Chip and Dale, e.t.c.
Tarzen is VERY HANDSOME. like REALLY. My sis said he has a 10 pack.
The music was damn catchy and all. I think i should go into the children's entertainment business cos i actually can relate and identify bettr then some kids =P
Fireworks was beautiful =)
The hotel was nice.
Haha, hollywood hotels in disneykland it self. EVERYTHING was mickey mouse. Even the bushes were carved into the shape of the disney castle. Windows were mickey, curtains were mickey, benches were mickey, EVCERYTHING was mickey.
Ohoh, and even the public train to and fro disneyland resort had mickey mouse windows and velvet seats and statues of disney characters. Ohohoh!! and i want the dress of the disney princesses and the matching shoes and matching wands and such.
(b) HK Island
Haha, highlight of the trip is the hotel. Marriot at HK Island =) Room on the 32nd floor. So what i did was sat at the window ledge, chatted on the pda and starred down at the city lights. Pretty =))
Ocean park...Haha, jelly fish were pretty!!! Victoria's peak was veryvery nice. Wantd to go into Madam Tussauds...but oh well, no time.
3. Prom
Ahh..food was bad. Didn't like my hair. But oh well, photo taking was good, haha. Was happyyy. And all I can say is, wow, time passed so fast. It only seemed like yesterday I was at crescent prom. And all that happened in the two years...seirously that much things can happen so fast in 2 years only? Can still remember my feelings at orientation, first day of school, first three mths, first time meeting individual ppl, first tests, first cca meetings, learning journeys, tutorials e.t.c. And again, anther chapter closed. Can;t stand it, I was sad at last day of school, sad at farewell, sad at last day of Alelve,s sad at prom...Everytime it just seemed like jc life has come to an end, but actually there's more to come...
And for RJC life, I can say that if i wrote a book on my life in rjc, it would actua.ly have readers. The whole 2 years had humour, climax, obstacles e.t.c. i.e. more and more fiction like. Unlike life in crescent. I suppose as we go higher up life bcomes more complex (duh) and all that i see in tv shows, serials, books, are no longer so distant or unbeleivable anymore.
And its not just the end jc lfie. It actually brings my whole so-called structured education in Singapore to an end. Ican remember first day at rgps, first day at crescent, subsequent returns to school after holidays, afternoon sessions at rgps, earlyt morning bus rides, playing around b4 school, hmm,the textbooks and their typical stories and characters... but rgps life wasnt something i would like to remember...
Now crescent life was something different...
1g1/2g1 was fun. It was fun cos i could be friends with and talk to everybodyin class...hmm..there were 970 rides home..random class outings..kiteflying, seoul garden e.t.c. zhao fang's chinese lessons were very fun =PP and dnt..haha, laugh at the teachers =P till rmb tht stupid chi yu biao and how they made us memorise all the meanings =S
3c2/4c2 was fun too, i think i gushed enough about it. I love my friends made there, mainly ann, huimin, mei, wenqing, cheryl and geri...haha, i can still veryvery vividly rmb end of sec4 after Os,gg out for dinners, chalets, prom et.c. ah..there was the video enrichement with ann ena cheryl toh and zakiah..won us alot of awards.
ohoh, and i must add, pbl was stupid.
and then there's choir. haha, sec1 choir was totally naughty. yahui and huilin and i will try to anger the hell out of the sl grace/ then there was those stupid 8-5 practices when we'll goto tiong bahru for lunch. ah..then there was london, and i'll meet yahui before choir practices at tiong bahru. and london was fun too!! I actually still rmb the pre tour concert. hahaha. Sec2 choir..there was geland waisze, and celine and yahui. Haha, NDP was most memorable. teasing vanessa and the marshalls...ahh//pervetic photographer!! hmm...
sec 3 and 4...sec4 was a most boring year. sec 3...ahh..change conductor. saddening..
eh..and there are music lessons at mgs. huimin and celine. haha, pp like josephine and boys made the thing fun. and eating at the canteen...
oh well. Its hard to beleive everything happened and ended... and i;m never going to wear a uniform again...
tis xmas, plz stay wit me..
